Entries, bibs, and timing chips are non-transferable. Violation will result in disqualification and no refund of entry fee will be entertained.
The Hong Kong Amateur Athletic Association Limited (“the Organiser”) reserves the right to disqualify, exclude any person from the race, and to take disciplinary action to applicants who provide incorrect personal data/details on the entry form, including those who have been banned from competitions under the World Athletics (WA) jurisdiction, or who have been suspected of having taken banned substances. No refund of entry fee will be entertained under any circumstance.
Participants who are with infants, children aged below 16 (not applicable to Kickoff Family Run) or who do not wear the valid bib of Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon 2020 are not allowed to enter the race course. Those who violate this rule will be asked to leave the course immediately.
Participants will be disqualified if they do not start at the designated race category and start time assigned by the Organiser. No result and certificate will be issued to those participants.
No pets or any form of wheel-run objects of transport, e.g. wheelchairs (except the wheelchairs approved by the Organiser in the Wheelchair Races), bicycles, skates, trolleys, shoes with built-in or attached rollers, etc, are allowed on the course.
Dangerous goods (i.e. offensive weapons, flammable, explosive agents or materials/objects which obstruct other participants, etc) are strictly prohibited. Those who violate this rule will be asked to leave the course immediately and such cases might be reported to the Law Enforcement Agency.
Participants must not use any external auxiliary equipment in the race (except prosthetic limb(s), or the wheelchairs used in the Wheelchair Races).
Participants must retire and leave the race course immediately, if requested to do so by any member of the race officials, medical staff, race director, referees or security staff.
In accordance with the IAAF Competition Rule 144, the Organiser reserves the right to disqualify any participant who has proven to have received assistance during the race (not applicable to Family Run).
For winners or potential winners wishing to appeal the results, appeals must be submitted in writing to the Result Referee at the finish area, with a deposit of HKD800 or USD100 within 30 minutes after the official result announcement. The deposit will be forfeited if the appeal is not successful or is withdrawn. The Organiser reserves the right not to entertain any dispute or appeal submitted thereafter (not applicable to Family Run).
For non-winners, any disputes regarding their personal results must be submitted in writing within 7 days after the results are announced on the official Marathon website (not applicable to Kickoff Family Run or visually impaired runner under Disability Entry).
Wheelchair race participants must start at the race category and start time that they have entered and have been assigned by the Organiser. Each participant shall put one of the bibs assigned visibly on the front of their chest while another one visibly on the back sole of their wheelchair.
Wearing a race helmet is compulsory for all wheelchair races participants. Participants must also take the safety of other participants of the wheelchair race or any other race along the route into consideration.
The Organiser reserves the right and has the authority to stop or cancel the race if a collision involving participants occurs in the first 50m of the race or any part of the race and the continuation of which may, in the Organiser’s sole opinion, affect the safety of the race or any other races on the day.
Any wheelchair race participants who intentionally interferes with or comes into contact with other wheelchair race participants (or their wheelchairs) during the race will be disqualified.
Only the race officials are permitted to assist a participant in case of a crash or tumble during the race. Participants will be disqualified if they are assisted in any manner that can influence the race results to their advantage.
The Organiser reserves the right to reject applications of participants who violate any of the official competition rules for all future Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathons or races organised by the Organiser.
In the case of discrepancies between the Chinese and English versions, the English version shall prevail. The Organiser reserves the right to interpret and amend the above rules.
