FAQ - Registration

Registration Procedures

Runners can register for the race by submitting an online registration, which contains their personal details, contact information, emergency contact details and Estimated Finishing Time.

All runners must provide an email address when they register. Each email address and HKID / Passport number can only be used for registration ONCE.

A registrant can only submit one registration for the races to be held on the same day unless he / she is an unsuccessful registrant for the Priority Entry in which case, he / she can submit one further registration for the Public Ballot. Duplicate registrations will be rejected or cancelled by the Organiser without prior notice. No entry fee will be refunded and redemption of the Runner’s Pack will not be entertained.
No. Registrants can only choose the distance they want to enter, and it cannot be amended once the registration is completed. The Organiser will assign the runners to a designated start time. The Estimated Finishing Time provided by the registrants in their registration will be one of the criteria for the assignment of race. No request for any change to another category, race or start time will be entertained by the Organiser.
An Application Acknowledgement Email will be sent to your registered email once your registration is submitted. A registrant must ensure that his / her designated email is correct, valid, can receive notification from the Organiser and will continue to be in use.

If you do not receive any notification messages, you may log into the registration system to check your contact information. If you experience any system errors, please call the Marathon Hotline (852) 2577 0800.
If your registration is incomplete or unsuccessful, please resubmit a new registration.

Registration and Acceptance (Priority Entry)

Priority Entry is to facilitate the registration of runners who achieved results that meet the specific time standards (Net Time) in designated races and period. With an aim to enhance the race standard, in addition to the results achieved in the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon 2024, the Organiser also accepts results achieved by runners in other recognised races between 1 January 2023 and 31 July 2024.

Registrants registered through the Priority Entry can only enter the Challenge Race of their selected distance (Marathon, Half Marathon, 10km). In case registrants wish to enter a non-Challenge race, they should apply for such a race by way of Public Ballot.
Participants meeting the specific time standards (Net Time) in any designated races between 1 January 2023 and 31 July 2024 are eligible to apply via Priority Entry. Details are as follow:

If your submitted proof was achieved in races organised / sanctioned by the Hong Kong, China Association of Athletics Affiliates (HKAAA), you may select the name of the race, input your bib number and personal result of the race directly in the registration system. If your personal result was achieved in races sanctioned by World Athletics (WA) or Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS), you are required to upload the supporting document of your personal result (i.e. Certificate with result) to the registration system for verification by the Organiser. Supporting documents for Priority Entry must be submitted during the registration and before the registration deadline. A registrant failing to provide results at the time of application will be treated as incomplete registration and such registration will no longer be processed.

No. If the number of eligible entries for the Priority Entry exceeds the quota for the corresponding Challenge Race after registration closes, the Organiser will determine the acceptance list by ranking the registrants according to the application ratio of gender and their submitted results and accepting those with better result.

An unsuccessful registrant can consider submitting another entry via Public Ballot from 21 August 2024 (Wednesday) 10am to 30 August 2024 (Friday) 7pm.

No. There is no waiting list for Priority Entry.

Registration and Acceptance (Disability Entry)

With an aim to uphold Physically Handicapped and Able-Bodied (PHAB) integration, 150 quotas are reserved for Disability Entry in the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon 2025.

Yes. After a visually impaired runner has successfully registered for the race, a registration link will be sent to the email address of the visually impaired runner and nominated guide runner. The registration and payment for guide runners close at 11:59pm on 29 November 2024 (Friday).

The guide runner will only be assigned to the same race as his / her visually impaired partner.

Registration and Acceptance (Public Ballot – Individual)

No. Registrants who fail to complete the payment within the payment period will be considered as forfeiting the entry.
Yes. Runners may consider entering the race via Marathon Charity Programme. The beneficiaries will handle the registration of their charity runners directly. Please visit our event website www.hkmarathon.com for more information.

Registration and Acceptance (Public Ballot – Team)

To encourage runners to join the race with their family and friends, the Organiser will continue to offer the Public Ballot – Team again this year. Registrants can form a team of 2 to 10 members to run for the 10km non-Challenge races. All Team Captains and members may register from 21 August 2024 (Wednesday) 10am to 30 August 2024 (Friday) 7pm.

Team Captains are required to create a team on the registration system during the registration period. They can set the team name for the team. Team member(s) shall click “Join Team” button on the registration page, then select the correct Team Name and fill in the registered email address of the Team Captain. They will be added to the team after submitting their personal particulars.

Only individual results will be available for each runner entered via Public Ballot – Team and the Organiser will not provide any team result or awards.

No. Team Captains should complete the payment for the entire team.
Yes. If any member(s) of the team would like to withdraw from the race before payment, please call the Marathon Hotline (852) 2577 0800 or email at [email protected] to declare his / her withdrawal request.

If the Team Captain has completed the payment for the entire team, the team could not withdraw from the race, except for medical reasons.

Registration and Acceptance (Wheelchair Race)

Yes. You may deposit one baggage and one spare wheelchair on race day. You may collect both at the Baggage Collection area after the race.
No. All participants including the Wheelchair Race must start the race on time. Late participants will not be allowed to enter the Start Area. Please make sure you arrive at the Start Area at least 30 minutes before the Start Time.
If the damage is mild, please stay on one side of the course and fix the wheelchair before resuming the race. If the damage is too severe that you are unable to continue, please seek help from Race Officials, and declare your intention to withdraw from the race. The Race Officials will then assist you to board the official bus which will take you to the Finish Area. Your bib will be marked by the Race Official after boarding the bus. Refreshments including water and banana will be provided on board.
After the race, you may leave Victoria Park via Hing Fat Street to Tin Hau MTR Station and / or via Causeway Road / Gate 10 to Causeway Bay. If you have booked a rehab bus for a pick-up, you may arrange for the car to wait at Ngan Mok Street, Tin Hau.

Registration and Acceptance (Marathon Charity Programme)

The Marathon Charity Programme of the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon aims to provide local charitable organisations the opportunity to raise funds for their services and programmes. Registrants can choose the Marathon, Half Marathon or 10km non-Challenge Race in the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon 2025 through the Programme.

The objectives of the Marathon Charity Programme are:

  • To support charitable organisations to promote their public profile and awareness to the running community;
  • To provide a platform for fundraising purpose;
  • To provide a channel for the running community to make donations to charitable organisations with good causes; and
  • To enhance a cohesive, inclusive, and caring society such that charitable organisations with different serving arms and groups can be supported
  • Details of official beneficiaries will be announced soon.
    The beneficiaries will handle the registration of their charity runners directly. If you are interested to be the charity runner, please visit our event website www.hkmarathon.com for more information.

    Upon submission, an Application Acknowledgement Email will be sent to the registered email of the charity runner.

    The Organiser will verify the runners’ list with all charitable organisations. A Result Announcement Email will be sent to the registered email of the charity runners by mid-December upon confirmation.

    Yes. The general public are welcome to donate and support our official beneficiaries of the Marathon Charity Programme via our official website. Details will be announced soon.
