The first international “M” Mark Event after the lifting of Covid restrictions,
enables international and local athletes to run further together
HONG KONG, 19 January 2023 – The much-anticipated 25th Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon will be held on Sunday, 12 February 2023. The 37,000 enrolment quota has been filled and the registration process is now completed. The race represents the first ‘M’ Mark event to be staged in Hong Kong following the recent easing of Covid restrictions by the Government. Alongside the participation of local runners, international elite athletes are also invited to join the 25th edition of the race, representing a welcome return to normalcy with the community.
In view of the latest lifting of Covid restrictions in Hong Kong, the Organiser has removed some of the anti-pandemic measures for runners, including no polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests 48 hours prior to the race or rapid antigen tests (RAT) for Covid-19 24 hours before the event. However, the mask-wearing requirement adopted at the last Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon remains. Runners must wear a mask upon arriving at the starting line and immediately after completing the race.
Increased quota of 37,000 marks good news for runners
The 25th Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon, which is set to take place on 12 February next year, has received good news for all runners! The total enrolment quota has been increased from 25,000 to 37,000. The Organiser would like to thank the Government and all parties for their full support and active coordination in making the race possible, as a further step along the path to a return to normality, bringing together local and overseas long-distance runners to achieve great results in this international sports event.
The Organiser has received over 50,000 registrations and is in active discussions with relevant departments on the feasibility to increase the overall quota, allowing more runners to participate in this much-anticipated event.
Therefore, the result of the second round ballot will be postponed and announced via email starting from 2pm onwards on 12 December 2022 (Monday). Charity Entry will be postponed and open for registration on 19 December 2022 (Monday) 10am.
