Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon 2010 Let's Get Ready!
Marathon Clinic is open for registration
The Hong Kong Amateur Athletic Association (HKAAA) today announced that it will be conducting the Marathon Clinic once again to train long-distance runners for preparation of Hong Kong's biggest and most rewarding sports event—Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon 2010. In conjunction with the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences (RS) of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Watsons Water, New Balance Athletic Shoes (Hong Kong) Limited, Salonpas and Rexona, the Marathon Clinic will offer new courses for beginning and intermediate runners.
The Beginners course is designed for those who are new to distance running, in particular those who are taking on the 10km or Half Marathon, while the Intermediate course is for more experienced runners who are looking to improve their skills. For the Marathon Clinic, RS physiotherapists will conduct an assessment test for each runner and custom-make a personal training profile based on the results. Participants will then receive comprehensive training from RS staff members, including guidance over three or four training workshops respectively for the Intermediate and Beginner levels. Participants will also receive personalized online training schedules made to their fitness levels and running experience. During the course, staff will also instruct runners about correct running position, pre-race preparation, ways to avoid injuries, and knowledge about body load.
In addition, the HKAAA will hold a Two-Day Introductory Course (Lecture and Technical Training) for those who have limited experience in distance running but want to learn more about running and injury prevention. Amenities available at the Marathon Clinic will include a water and Iso-Tone station from Watsons Water; souvenir running packs from New Balance; pain relief patch samples from Salonpas; and deodorant samples from Rexona.
The Marathon Clinic is open for registration from now until 6 November 2009. The costs of the Beginner and Intermediate courses are HK$400 and HK$800 respectively, while the Two-Day Introductory Course (with no physical training assessment included) is HK$150. Space is limited. Application forms can be downloaded from the HKAAA's official website at www.hkaaa.com or the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon 2010 official website at www.hkmarathon.com.
