Why the race starts so early?

To avoid running under a humid and hot weather conditions, the earlier starts of the races would be an advantage to the participants, it would reduce the possibility of heat strokes conditions. With the anticipated increase of participants, we moved the start of 10 km Challenge to 5:30 am, followed by the starts for the rest of races. This measure is to avoid over crowding along the route. There are also physical & geographical restrictions that we had to take into consideration when these starting times were decided.

As the race starts early in the morning, participants are advised to keep their noise level to the minimum, thus reducing disturbance to nearby residents.

8.

How do I get to the Start area early in the morning?

We are working with public transport organizations to see whether earlier public transport services can be arranged from certain designated areas to the Start area in Causeway Bay or Tsim Sha Tsui.

For details, please refer to the Runner's Guide which will be distributed at the Marathon Expo.

9.

Why we use runners' times to set various zones for the start of the 10km race , Half Marathon and Full Marathon?

The main reason is to ensure that all the faster runners (potential winners) of various categories can finish their races without being blocked by the slower runners along the route.

Yes. The time limit for the Full Marathon is 6 hours; Half-Marathon is 3 hours and 10km is 2 hours. For Full Marathon, slow runners will be asked to abandon the race at specific locations if they do not reach the designated locations at the specific times. Please understand that the time limits set are not intended to discourage runners from finishing the races. There is a special need that the disturbance and public inconvenience should be reduced to the minimum due to the closures of public roads to facilitate the organization of the Marathon. Hence, the Organizer MUST hand back the entire marathon route to the Police to re-open the roads to normal traffic by 2:15 pm. For details on time limits and locations, please refer to Runner's Guide.
