Key Points:

  • ICE can reduce muscle swelling, alleviate inflammation and help to wash out metabolic waste that accumulated inside body and improve body circulation. 
  • ICE can help muscle recover quickly from a heavy training session i.e. speed training or long run. 
  • Immerge sore muscle (best is lower body) into a bath of icy water around 10-15oC for 10-15mins. Finish when feeling numb or skin turn red. 
  • Hot shower or hot bath afterwards.
